When we moved from Florida to London in May 2015 we had three ways to send our things to our new home. We could take a few things in suitcases with us on the plane, we could send a few more things in a separate air shipment, and the rest had to be sent by boat and wouldn't arrive for months. Of course, we knew the weather in London was famously awful, but it WAS the end of May and in the high 80's in Tampa. How bad could it really be?
We arrived with a few suitcases full of Spring and Summer clothes and sandals and only a couple of pairs of jeans and long sleeved shirts. We got off the plane and immediately had to go out and buy winter coats and boots and hats and gloves!
One of the first events we attended when we was the Trooping of the Colours, a very long and very boring ceremony dating back to the 17th century. I guess it's a pretty big deal - the Queen and the Royal Family were there which is kinda cool, but it's not like I was sitting with them or anything! We were told to dress up and I had a cute dress, bare legs, heels and a light jacket and I was so cold that I honestly didn't care who was there. I was shivering, my teeth were chattering and all I wanted to do was get home and have a hot bath! What the heck? It was JUNE!!
That was our introduction to Springtime in London.
The next few years really weren't bad at all - sunny and moderate - and we laughed at everyone who asked us about the rotten London weather.... and then enter 2020 and The Beast from the East! Snow covered most of Europe including Rome and the south of France! Flights were cancelled, trains and buses shut down - the entire city came to a standstill! Luckily we walk almost everywhere we go and we had so much fun strolling in this "Winter Wonderland" - taking photos, throwing snowballs, walking hand in hand through the hushed street of London. I am still not a big fan of cold weather, but I know when we are living back in Florida we will miss the sight of this beautiful city covered in a blanket of snow.
My Boots, hat and gloves are all from Ugg. You can find these adorable rain boots here in 5 different delicious colors.
The sheepskin bow gloves are on major sale now and the matching bow headband is sold out but you can find a very similar one for 30% off that would also match here.
My Tory Burch York tote has been replaced by the McGraw and it comes in 6 gorgeous colors. It holds absolutely everything including my huge dated laptop and tons of necessities for a long plane ride or a day at work or out on the town.
I have a huge crush on the one in ivory with a whipstitch and just might need to get it for Spring (if it ever arrives that is!)
My wool shawl collared wrap coat is from the Scandal Collection (love me some Kerry Washington!) but you can find similar styles on sale here and for half price here.
Enjoy the last of this cool weather. We'll be wishing for it back this Summer when the temps are in the 90's!
